Aging of the face is inevitable. It is characterized by sagging and deflation of the facial tissues. Although many non-surgical treatments to address facial sagging are now available, the gold standard remains surgical lifting. The face can be divided in thirds: the upper third is the brow, the middle third is the midface, while the lower third is the lower face. The neck is of course the area below the lower third of the face. This section will discuss surgical lifting techniques for all four areas.
